"Anna took some amazing photos for our family, she has made us all feel very comfortable and was very professional. She had fantastic backgrounds and props and the whole set up was wonderful. She even helped us with our poses and we ended with some beautiful treasured photos. I highly recommend her as a photographer."
Family Photography
Photos your kids will look back on
From outdoor sessions at Willen Lake to studio cake-smashes, bar and bat mitzvahs in North London, and milestone moments — relaxed, patient family photography across Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, and London.
Real family life, captured calmly
Family photography works best when nobody's pretending. I keep sessions paced for kids — bringing favourite toys, building in playtime, never insisting on a smile that isn't there. Parents tell me they forget I'm holding a camera within ten minutes; that's when the best photos arrive.
Sessions run 45–90 minutes depending on package and group size. Outdoor shoots happen at Milton Keynes favourites — Willen Lake, Campbell Park, Caldecotte Lake, The Tree Cathedral — or a location of your choice. Indoor studio sessions cover cake-smash, milestone portraits, and any-weather backups.
A note on bar / bat mitzvahs
Bar and bat mitzvah coverage is largely London and North London for me — synagogues, party venues, and home-and-shul combinations across Barnet, Hendon, Golders Green, and central London. The photos blend formal portraits, ceremony coverage, and the candid celebration of an extraordinary day for your child and family.

Family photography FAQs
-
When is the best time to have a family shoot?
The golden hour — about an hour before sunset — gives the most beautiful, warm light for outdoor sessions. Spring and autumn are my favourite times for Milton Keynes shoots: blossom and fresh greenery in spring, then earthy tones and golden leaves in autumn. That said, mid-morning sessions work brilliantly for younger children who fade by late afternoon. Studio sessions can run any time of day since lighting is controlled. -
How do I book a family session?
Get in touch via the contact form, WhatsApp, or Instagram — I reply to most enquiries within 24 hours. Once we've agreed on a date and session type, a small deposit secures your booking, with the balance due before the shoot. Family sessions are usually booked 2–6 weeks ahead, but I sometimes have shorter-notice availability for outdoor sessions during the right weather. -
My child is shy or restless — will the photos still work?
Absolutely — getting natural reactions from children is what I do every week. I work patiently, give kids time to warm up, and capture genuine play and connection rather than asking them to pose. Bringing a favourite toy or snack helps. Sessions are paced so we never rush — restless children get the best results when we let them lead a bit. -
Where do family photoshoots happen?
Outdoor family sessions are most often shot at Willen Lake, Campbell Park, Caldecotte Lake, or The Tree Cathedral — all in Milton Keynes — though I'm happy to travel to a location of your choice in the surrounding area. Studio sessions take place in a controlled indoor space, ideal for cake smash, milestone portraits, and any-weather backups. -
Is there a dress code for the photographer?
Yes — I dress to blend in, usually formal black or dark-navy depending on the synagogue's expectations. I'll always check with you in advance to make sure my attire suits the day. -
What information do you need from parents in advance?
A run-sheet for the day with key timings (synagogue start, party arrival, first dance), the names of close family for formal portraits, a contact list for the venue and event coordinator, any specific shots you want (sibling portraits, grandparents with the bar/bat mitzvah child, sentimental items), and notes on photography rules at your synagogue. I'll send a short questionnaire two weeks out so nothing's missed. -
What does a bar/bat mitzvah day look like with you?
Coverage typically begins at the synagogue with arrival and the ceremony, then formal family portraits in the synagogue grounds or a nearby park, and on to the party venue for first-look reactions, kiddush, speeches, the hora, and dinner. Pricing starts from £550 and is tailored to each day depending on requirements and the number of guests. -
Do you photograph newborns?
I don't currently offer dedicated newborn photography. I do photograph slightly older babies for milestone sessions (sitter portraits, first birthday cake smash), and I'm always happy to include babies of any age in family group sessions. For specialist newborn-only work in the first few weeks of life, I can recommend trusted local photographers who specialise in that. -
How much does a family photoshoot cost?
Outdoor family sessions start from £200 for a 90-minute shoot with 15 carefully edited high-resolution images. Pricing varies by session type, group size, and the number of edited images — for example, larger group shoots, studio cake-smash sessions, or events have different formats. The best next step is to get in touch with your preferred date and group details for a personalised quote. -
How long is a family session and how many photos do I get?
Standard outdoor sessions run 60–90 minutes — that's the sweet spot for keeping younger children engaged, with extra slack for breaks and snacks. The starter package includes 15 carefully edited high-resolution images; larger packages with 30+ images are available. Galleries are delivered via a private online gallery within 2–3 weeks. Add-on images and prints are available afterwards from the gallery. -
What should we wear for a family photoshoot?
Coordinated, not matching. Pick a soft palette of 2–3 complementary colours and have everyone dress within it — solids and gentle textures photograph better than busy patterns or large logos. Comfort matters more than dressy: kids do best in clothes they can move and play in. For autumn outdoor sessions, layers, knits, and earthy tones work beautifully with the natural light. -
Who can I include in my family photo session?
Everyone is welcome — partners, children, grandparents, and even your dog. I plan a mix of group portraits and individual or smaller-grouping shots so every relationship in the family gets a moment in the gallery. For larger groups (10+), get in touch ahead of time so I can plan light and positioning to suit.
